Carrot Harvest - California is blessed with conditions that make year-around carrot farming possible. Specially selected carrot seed grown in light fertile soil under arid California sunshine results in carrots unmatched for taste and quality. Bolthouse Farms plants carrots every week of the year. |

Processing Carrots - When everything goes right, carrots are ready to harvest in 100 to 150 days, depending on the season (temperature and length of the days). Carrots are harvested when they are still young and tender and at their peak flavor. Top-lift harvesters designed and built in-house harvest over 100 tons per hour! A whole fleet of harvesters is necessary since carrots harvested in the morning are processed that day. Carrots harvested in the afternoon are processed that night. |
|
Sorting for Quality - It's hard to comprehend the scale of Bolthouse Farms until you see the processing plants. Carrots enter the plant where the first of several washings take place. Carrots are sized and sorted and then enter the plant to be prepared as a wide variety of finished Carrot Products. |

Ready to Eat - The plants are marvels of food-quality processing. In-house engineering and fabrication make this possible. Carrots are cut, sorted, sized, peeled, polished, sliced and diced into every conceivable size and shape. Of course, some carrots are bagged whole! Others are made into carrot juice. |
